U13 Les Kinnane Cup

Sunshine Coast vs Logan Legion

Logan won the toss and elected to bowl first in what proved to be tough conditions, losing a couple early wickets before Archie Brown and Max Anderson combined for a settling partnership. However we lost two more wickets late in our first 25 overs to be 4/53 at the first break.

It was then our turn with the ball and two early wickets saw the game firmly in the balance before a nice partnership by a couple of their middle order batsman to get their scoring rate going. It was a story of missed opportunities putting down catches at some crucial moments to leave them at 2/03 at the break. Tyler Boss bowled extremely well without luck along with Nate Watson.

Trailing by 50, our next 25 overs with the bat was dominated by Mace Henderson scoring 54* off only 38 deliveries and smashed their bowlers to all parts of the ground. Cameos from Blake Catchlove and Ethan Anderiesz along with the continuation of a great innings by Archie Griffiths saw us get our total up to 9/163, setting them 60 to win.

Our final burst with the ball was much like our first 25 with missed opportunities blocking us from getting ahead of the game and putting pressure back on the opposition. None the less, impressive catches by Blake Catchlove and Seb Barry along with a direct hit run out by Charlie King saw us get them 9 down by the end despite going down.

Some clear points to work on for tomorrow but a great effort by all and plenty of positives moving forward.

U13 Les Kinnane against Gold Coast

We bowled first in our only match of the day being a T20 and got off to an amazing start having them 2/23 at drinks thanks to some amazing bowling from Ethan Anderiesz who picked up an early wicket on his way to taking 3/7 off 3 overs. Tyler Boss and Nate Watson were also outstanding early both going for 8 and 6 off their 3 overs respectively. After the drinks break, Gold Coast gained some momentum to post 9/96 after their 20 overs. More good bowling from Archie Brown taking 2/14 off his 3, taking crucial wickets at crucial times.

We got off to a slow start with the bat with the Gold Coast bowlers delivering a fiery opening spell. Adam Kahts and Archie Brown combined to help give us a platform to launch late in our innings. However, despite valiant efforts from Charlie King, Archie Griffiths and Ethan Anderiesz, 96 proved too many to chase down falling 16 runs short.

Plenty of improvements from the boys today after being wash out yesterday, fielding and bowling the house down. Looking forward to applying the finishing touches to putting a complete performance tomorrow.

Sunshine Coast vs Brisbane North Maroon

Today was a tale of 2 halves for our boys. After being sent in to bat we lost some early wickets and needed some consolidation which the 2 Barry twins, Will and Seb provided to leave us in a slightly vulnerable but much improved position at the break.

The Brisbane North batsman came out full of intent and despite some valiant efforts with the ball from our opening bowlers they were in a strong position at the halfway mark, posting 4/160 with Archie brown picking up 2 wickets along with Adam Kahts and Nate Watson with one each.

Our second dig with the bat started hot with Mace Henderson continuing where he left off monday belting 30 off 28 including a perfectly straight 6 into the sightscreen. The tail wagged a little but the loss of wickets was regular eventually being bowled all out for 120.

The boys headed back out in good spirits and it only got better after Tyler Boss picked up a set batsman with the second ball back. It was then Nate Watson’s turn to take over, ripping through their middle order on his way to taking 5/59 off his 10 overs. A fantastic effort. More good bowling and some awesome catches from Seb Barry and Archie Griffiths saw us bowl them all out for 255, a fantastic effort with the ball.

The boys are keen to take the momentum from this afternoon into tomorrow when we come up against DDSQ.
