U12 Ian Healy Cup

Today we played Logan.

Logan won the toss and elected to bowl. The game was constantly interrupted with rain delays meaning the game was reduced to 31 overs.

Batting was difficult with the wet outfield meaning it was difficult to score. After the first 20 overs we reached 48. Some valuable contributions in the first 20 overs from Ben, Toby and Elijah allowed us to reach the score.

Our first 20 overs of bowling we were able to keep Logan to 61 with Nash taking 1 for 8 off 4.
Batting for the final 11 overs we were adventurous and positive which took the score to 88.
The boys put in a great effort in the field and took the game to the last 3 overs but it wasn’t meant to be. Unfortunately extras were too many and cost us the game.

Positive from the team perspective was taking 10 quick runs today while batting, running between wickets has been a big focus for the team.

We won the toss and chose to bowl. We were able to be more consistent today and kept MSW to 6 for 89 after 1st quarter. We came out to bat and Nick was able to get us off to a quick start with some aggressive batting. Henry came in and was able to retire then Ben finished our 1st 25 with some boundaries, at lunch we were 4 for 73.

We came out and bowled well by taking regular wickets to bowl MSW out for 117. Elijah with 3 wickets, Nash 2 and Eli with 2 bowled well with the rest of the bowling group.
Chasing a further 45 we lost early weeks but were able to rebuild with Toby getting to retirement. In the end Eli hit the winning runs, was a great win for the boys.

While celebrating the win Luke Feldman come to congratulate the team and talk about tactics and his records as a bulls player. The boys were very lucky and excited to have their time with.

U12s Ian Healy Cup against Bears.

Today we bowled first with Oscar and Eli starting us off with a fantastic example of partnership bowling. We had better control today and had Bears 6 for 49 after 25 overs. We started batting and lost early wickets to great bowling, at one stage we were 4 for 2. Jayden and Ben were able to steady the innings whilst still being positive at the wicket. Jayden was able to get to retirement. We did however loose late wickets and after our 25 overs we were 8 for 54.

The boys confident we were still in the game came out and took the remaining wickets to bowl Bears out for 70. All bowlers were fantastic however the wickets went to Toby 5 for 16 off 7. Oscar 3 for 13 off 7. Ben 2 for 10 off 3 and Nash 1 for 9 off 7.

This left a tricky 17 runs with 3 wickets in hand. We lost Leo in the first over still needing 17 with only 2 wickets remaining. From here Oscar and Nash saw off the main bowlers and cashed in on the loose balls to see us take victory in a close encounter. Top scores were Oscar 22, Jayden 18, Ben 13 and Nash not out on 11.

Coaching team and parents very proud of the boys not giving up and coming back from 4 for 2 to hit a final winning score of 103.

U12s game against Wide Bay.

Started today with rain coming down which delayed play and reduced the game to 43 overs. We decided to arrange a touch footy game against Wide Bay in the rain while we waited which the boys enjoyed. When play got under way we bowled first. After 23 overs we had Wide bay 4 for 50. Started our batting innings with positive intent especially with our running between wickets with Nick and Henry at the top.

After our first quarter we were 3 for 80, a nice 30 run lead. Unfortunately after the break Wide Bay were able to capitalise on some loose bowling however we still were able to bowl them out for 129. Needing 50 runs to win with plenty of wickets in hand we cruised to victory with a well discipline batting display.
Pick of the bowlers Jude 3 for 14 off 6. Nash 2 for 16 off 6 and Henry 1 for 12 off 6. Batting wise it was a team performance with Nick, Leo, Jayden, Elijah and Jude all reaching retirement. Top scorers were Oscar 28 not out and Jude 25 not out. Oscar again hitting the winning runs two days in a row.

All in all 3 wins from 4 games so far, looking to finish strong tomorrow in playoff for 5th.
