Sunshine Coast Scorchers and Coastal Marlins Golf Day Raises Funds for Junior Cricket Development
In a spectacular showcase of community spirit and sporting camaraderie, the Sunshine Coast Scorchers and Coastal Marlins recently hosted their annual Golf Day at the Pelican Waters Golf Club on Friday, the 24th of November 2023. The newly refurbished course played host to 22 teams, totalling 88 players, who teed off at 9 am in a day that seamlessly blended competition with passion and support for cricket on the Coast.
The morning kicked off with a brekky burger on arrival, setting the tone for a day that promised more than just swings and putts. At lunch wood-fired pizzas by ‘That Pizza Guy’ took centre stage, offering our golfers a delicious reprieve at the end of the round.
Claiming the title of Golf Day champions was the Insider Finance team, led by the skilled Matt Kerr as team captain, joined by Chris McCabe as Coach, Scott Gardiner as team security and Rod Gibbs as team psychologist.
Beyond individual victories, participants eagerly contested for the nearest to the pin and longest drive honours, injecting an extra layer of excitement into the day.
The true success of the event, however, extended beyond the greens. An impressive $7,500 was raised for junior cricket development on the Sunshine Coast, highlighting the community’s commitment to nurturing budding cricket talent. Recognition is due to the event’s Hole Sponsors – TSP, DCM, CJW Accounting, Insider Finance, and Your Mates Brewing – whose support played a pivotal role in achieving this fundraising feat.
