As an Association we have been working closely with the Coastal Marlins to come up with a concept that continues to develop players whilst ensuring they always enjoy the game. Please note that this competition is completely different to the BPL that the Coastal Marlins are involved with. Players are not entered into a draft system like the BPL, instead all players wishing to participate simply need to register in a similar manner to which they register for Junior Cricket.
All players will register via a central platform on ‘Play Cricket’ exactly like your normal junior registration process. As part of that process the player will indicate which club they are from and once registrations are complete players will be organised into teams, where possible, representing their current local club.
The cost of the competition including clinics is only $99 (+ $5 insurance).
It is the intention to have 3 age groups consisting of U13, U15 & U17 age groups. This will dependant on registrations within each of the age groups, we may need to be flexible, particularly with the older age groups once registrations are finalised.
The age guidelines are those that will be in place for the 2022/23 season, ie to play U17’s you must be 16yrs or younger as at 31st August 2022; to play U15’s you must be 14yrs or younger as at 31st August 2022; to play U13’s you must be 12yrs or younger as at 31st August 2022.
It is also requested that to be eligible to register you have completed a season in our Stage 1 SCCA Junior Competition.
All games will be played on Sunday afternoons between 1.30pm & 4.30pm with our first game scheduled for Sunday the 22nd May, 2022. All players will have the opportunity to be involved in up to 8 games of cricket and involved with two specialised T20 clinics delivered by Coastal Marlins Coaching staff. We have split the competition into two ‘phases’ to allow for a break over school holidays and have placed the games on a Sunday afternoon to allow players to continue to play other sports during Winter. All games will be played on synthetic wickets as many turf wickets are unavailable during the Winter months.

Within each team we will require a parent/guardian to supervise their players and umpire, very similar to junior cricket. There will be no expectation for mid-week training as part of this program however individual teams, once organised, can participate in training at the discretion of the team and their Coach/Supervising parent/s. Volunteer coaches are welcome to attend any of the T20 clinic days as part of their ongoing learning as a coach and to deliver similar activities if training for their individual teams are organised.
Further details in relation to rules and draw will be released in due course.
