U15 QJC SUNSHINE COAST SCORCHERS WRAP!

With somewhat of a new look side for this year’s carnival in comparison to last year’s squad, there was a sense of excitement heading into the week. Coach Jason Eade was also making his ‘debut’ at a QJC Carnival after spending the last couple of years doing a tremendous job with our development squads but with the highly organised veteran, Travis Schultz, as his assistant, the SC U15 side was in great hands. With a below par performance, against strong opposition in MSW, on day one our boys did not drop another game throughout the week with victories over SEQ, DDSWQ, GC in the remaining ‘pool’ games. SC then defeated SEQ again on the final day playing off for 5th. In speaking with some of the players following the week they believed a 5th place was a fair reflection of their performances with many ‘grinding’ victories on some tough playing surfaces. The side was well lead by Tighe Morris who finished as Sunshine Coasts leading run scorer, with crafty leg-spinner Finn Mayo from Tewantin-Noosa CC taking 11 wickets at 9.91 to finish as our leading wicket taker. Will Noffke also had a great week finishing in the top 2 with both bat & ball with his ability to hit powerfully and bowl express a great addition to this side. With so many strong players in this age group, the future of our Scorchers male sides looks bright!
