Round 1 & 2

Here’s the U13 Girls wrap day 1:

It was a HOT and SWEATY one, but that didn’t stop the Scorcher’s girls from putting in 110%.

Being such a new team they started the first game a little bit quiet, but by the second game there wasn’t a moment of silence! Cheering on their teammates hitting 4’s, retiring from batting and being quick between the stumps .

We saw so many improvements from game 1 to game 2, so we are SUPER excited to see what the rest of the week brings .

Round 3

The Under 13 Girls Day 2:

The overnight storm & rain (a whopping 40mm worth) put a damper on the morning, looking like we weren’t going to get in any cricket at all!

But thanks to the fabulous officials and staff another ground was found and we squeezed in a quick 10-over game against Metro South West!

The girls applied their many learnings from round 1 & 2 yesterday, particularly in the field which paid off with 2 wickets claimed (wicket-takers pictured, Macy & Jess).

An early finish meant some time to chill out, which some of the girls took quite literally with the left-over ice from the water jug!

They are pumped and ready to see what they can achieve on Day 3 – Let’s go Scorchers!!

Round 4

The Under 13 Girls Day 3:

Mid-week tiredness hit the girls this morning, but after a chat and their warm-up they were ready to rumble.

The first game saw the girls having a crack with the bat, resulting in 4’s and some great partnerships!

Hannah & Stella had a few big hits between them before Hannah retired (pictured below).

We faced some challenges in the second game, but the girls powered through and learnt loads from the experience – which is what the carnival is all about!

Our wicket keepers, Mary & Olivia were kept on their toes throughout the innings, great stuff girls! (pictured below, featuring Soph’s photobomb haha).

We have a bye in the morning, so a great chance for a little sleep in before we head back for Round 6 in the arvo – keep it up Scorchers!

Round 7

The Under 13 Girls Day 4:

What a day! The girls had a very deserving sleep-in this morning, followed by an afternoon game against the Brisbane Bears Green and what a nail-biter it was!

Our Scorcher girls put a high score of 84 runs on the board and went into field determined to defend their score.

It came down to the last 2 overs, but they couldn’t quite hold on with the Bears finishing on 89 runs at stumps. Everyone was on the edge of their seat! This was the last game for our girls, so it was a sad afternoon of goodbyes.

The girls have improved every single game and learnt so much over the week! We cannot wait to watch them put all their new learnings into practice in trainings and future games.

We are so proud of our girls and super excited to do it all again next year! Go Scorchers!
